Columbia Police arrest man for Walmart fire on Garners Ferry Road
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— Columbia Police have arrested a man accused of intentionally igniting merchandise inside the Walmart at Garners Ferry Road Thursday morning.
Laurence Blocker is charged with second degree arson.
Authorities say it happened after 10 a.m., which activated the fire alarm causing the store to evacuate.
No injuries have been reported but firefighters say it caused between $300K to $400K worth of damages.
Blocker has been taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
