Columbia man sentenced nearly 5 years for theft of firearms from retail store

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) —A Columbia man was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for stealing two shotguns and two rifles from a retail store.

Christopher Cunningham, 34, and a co-conspirator broke into the Garner’s Ferry Road store on March 6, 2022 and stole the firearms from the sporting goods section, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Cunningham was identified from the surveillance and an investigation confirmed the fingerprints collected from the display case belonged to the suspect.

He has had prior convictions for burglary, grand larceny, malicious injury to personal property, and multiple shopliftings.

Cunningham was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison, to be followed by a three-year term of court-ordered supervision.
