DHEC encourages action during Men’s Health Week
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— In observance of Men’s Health Week, the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control is sharing tips on how men can take control of their health.
From June 12-18, men are urged to learn more about what they can do to prevent long-term health issues.
In South Carolina, heart disease is the leading cause of death for men. The second leading cause of death for men in the state is cancer.
The following steps are recommended to help reduce the risk of heart disease:
• Get your blood pressure and cholesterol levels checked
• Stay active
• Eat a healthy diet and use less salt
• If you drink alcohol, drink in moderation
• Stay tobacco and vape free
