Endangered Gopher frogs released to boost numbers

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— An endangered species is getting a boost from Riverbanks Zoo and Garden.

Earlier this week zoologists with Riverbanks partnered with the State Department of Natural Resources to release 89 gopher frogs at a DNR facility.

Zoo officials say the native species has become critically endangered as the result of habitat loss.
