Orangeburg Co. Sheriff’s Office warns residents of jury duty scam

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO)— The Orangeburg Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a jury duty scam making its way around the area.

According to Sheriff Ravenell, the conman will claim to be a Sheriff’s Office deputy and use the name Deputy Jenkins.

They will also tell the potential victim they can pay money to have their missed jury duty accusation go away.

According to Ravenell, the jury duty scam has been around before.

If anyone receives a call they are asked to either hang up or call the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.
