Area school selects first black Homecoming Queen

Charleston, SC (WOLO) — A low country teenager made history at her school after being elected the first black Homecoming queen in the school’s 155 year history.

17 year old Amber Wilson-Debriano is a senior at the predominantly white Porter-Gaud High School.
Wilson-Debriano says she knows that being the first comes with a lot of responsibility, but believes it is important for younger children to see representation.
