Gamecock MBB set to open 2023-’24 season Monday night

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina opens the 2023-24 season on Monday night at Colonial Life Arena against USC Upstate. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. (ET) against the Spartans. Doors will open 1 hour prior at 6 p.m.

It’s year two of the Lamont Paris era with an experienced group taking the floor in this new chapter of Gamecock men’s basketball. The team’s four transfers (Stephen Clark, Ta’Lon Cooper, B.J. Mack and Myles Stute) have played a combined 430 games at the Division I level with 299 starts across the quartet of players.

The entire team’s 480 combined Division I starts ranks third in the SEC behind only Mississippi State (514) and Texas A&M (502) entering the 2023-24 season. Last year’s team ranked 269th in the final KenPom standings for Division I experience.
