State Christmas tree arrives at SC State House

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — South Carolina is getting into the Holiday spirit.

The official Christmas tree arrived at the State House on Monday, Nov.6.

Officials with Experience Columbia SC, say the thirty-five foot Norway Spruce came from the Henderson Tree Farms in Morganton, North Carolina.

In the coming weeks Dominion Energy will string more than thirteen-thousand LED lights on the tree and local garden clubs will hang nine-hundred ornaments.

Charlene Slaughter with Experience Columbia SC says, the three will remain dark until its official lighting at the 57th annual Governor’s Carolighting Ceremony.

“We will have this event on the 19th. We have all kinds of performances across the state. From the low country to the upstate to right here in the Midlands. Santa will be here for the kids so they can come and see Santa and talk to him as well,” said Slaughter.

The ceremony will kick-off with Miss South Carolina’s Jada Samuel hosting at 6 p.m. on Nov.19.
