DJJ juvenile correction officer arrested for providing contraband to youths

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A DJJ juvenile correctional officer was arrested for providing contraband to youths at the detention center, said the DJJ.

The South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice said 23-year-old Alicia J. Johnson was released from her position as a juvenile correction officer after an investigation revealed she supplied youth at the center with contraband.

Johnson is accused of providing the juveniles with several vape pens.

She was arrested and charged with adult furnishing contraband to a juvenile while in DJJ custody and misconduct in office.

Johnson is currently detained at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, said officials.
