Communities In Schools SC’s Annual Illuminate event at the State House this Sun.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – One non-profit wants you to celebrate American Education Week by taking part in a special event to helps students across South Carolina!

Communities in Schools SC’s 3rd Annual Illuminate fundraiser goes from 6 to 7 p.m. this Sunday at the State House at 1100 Gervais Street.

There will be performances from the Columbia High School Cheer and Dance Team and ColaJazz, special guest speakers, hot chocolate, and more.

Curtis spoke with Latasha Taste and Melissa Getz from the non-profit about how your contributions help raise vital funds to provide resources, guidance, and essential wraparound services to students in need.

Taste & Getz also say the event symbolizes their non-profit’s mission to illuminate the path to equitable education, with each luminary representing a CISSC student.
