Heathwood Hall names new head football coach
Heathwood Hall announced its new head football coach Thursday afternoon.
Tymere Zimmerman, who served as an assistant coach for the team, will be promoted to head coach, the school said.
The move comes after former head coach Rick Reetz stepped down in September following just a 1-5 start. Rip Blackstone took over and finished the season as interim coach with Zimmerman acting as an assistant.
For Zimmerman, this will be his first head coaching role, though he does have plenty of experience, having served as wide receivers coach for Presbyterian in 2020, an assistant for Lower Richland for five years, plus stops at Lexington and Marlboro County along the way.
The Highlanders finished the season 2-9, falling to Laurence Manning the first round of the SCISA football playoffs.
