Veterans Day event in the Midlands

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Veterans Day is a federal holiday held every year to honor military veterans of the U.S. Armed Services.

In communities throughout the Midlands, parades and events honoring those who served their country will be held.

Here is a list of events honoring veterans:

City of Columbia’s 45th Annual Veterans Day Parade:

The City of Columbia is holding its 45th Annual Veterans Day Parade on Friday, Nov. 10.

The Columbia Parks & Recreation Department announced the parade will begin from the intersection of Sumter and Laurel streets, and travel southbound on Sumter Street ending at Pendleton Street near the State House starting at 11 a.m.

Bamberg County Veterans Park Dedication:

Bamberg County Council and administration will join Bamberg Mayor Nancy Foster and Bamberg City Council at Bamberg Veterans Park to commemorate Veterans Day and celebrate the grand opening of the park.

The ceremony will take place on Nov.11 at 11 a.m.

River Bluff High School Veterans Day Assembly:

River Bluff High School is hosting a Veterans Day assembly to honor the many veterans in the Midlands.

The school will be holding two assemblies on Nov. 10 at 8:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. at the River Bluff High School Performing Arts Center.
