Cell tower service to possibly interrupt Clarendon 911 calls

Clarendon Co., SC (WOLO) — Clarendon County Emergency Management says FTC notified them just after 3:30pm Tuesday to notify them they needed to move phone lines while an area bridge is being repaired.

That work begins at midnight Tuesday, while the Farmers Telephone Company (FTC) says they will moving fiber lines that could disrupt some service for residents and businesses in the immediate area through the early hours of Wednesday morning. According to FTC,  the lines are being rerouted to keep them from being damaged while the 2nd Water Bridge along Highway 260 is being repaired.

While the work is being conducted crews say landline phones from the Clarendon County Airport to the Santee Dam will be out of service. An FTC cell tower on Kenwood Road will also be interrupted during this time. Officials with FTC says they expected for the services to be down for 3 hours, but want to make it clear there is no specific time frame for the work to be completed. Officials with the Clarendon County Emergency Management says that 911 services could affected during this time.

FTC says they will have crews there on site as they work to complete repairs and get services restored as fast as possible.
