Couple creates “Lily Pads” for kids
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– According to the Department of Social Services, foster youth may spend time waiting temporarily in agency offices until their next placement is ready.
But one South Carolina couple is working to make that transition a little easier.
Benjamin and Jennifer Tice have created Lily Pads to place in DSS offices to provide a living room-like setting for children to comfortably rest, play, and do homework.
A ceremony was held for the opening of the Lily Pad at the Midlands adoption office.
The co-founders say they hope each child feels the love that went into the room.
The couple began installing the Lily Pads in DSS offices in March 2022 and so far 16 exist already.
Next year they hope to put in 12 more spaces.
