Study shows hole in ozone may not be recovering as thought

(CNN) — A new study has claimed the ozone hole, that was thought to be recovering, might not be.
The ozone layer sits miles above the earth and protects the planet from ultraviolet radiation.

In 1987 several countries banned more than 100 ozone-depleting chemicals that had caused a “hole” in the layer above Antarctica.
The ban was considered to be effective. But a recent report in “natural communications” found the hole, which grows in Spring and shrinks in Summer reached record sizes from 2020 to 2022.

They didn’t go into too much detail about the cause of the depletion other than changes in the antarctic polar vortex.
