SCDNR: 6-year-old killed after hunting accident in Orangeburg County death ruled an accident

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources says they are continuing to investigate the death of the 6-year-old boy who was killed in a hunting accident on Friday morning in Orangeburg County.
The department has determined that the boy’s death was an accident.
Officials say the boy was in an elevated stand and appeared to have been struck by a stray shotgun pellet from a shooter on the ground.
Investigators are awaiting more information from the coroner’s report.

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources expressed its deepest condolences and sympathies to the family of a six-year-old child who tragically lost their life in a hunting accident on Friday morning.
The Orangeburg Co. Coroner’s Office says Avery Davis died Saturday at the Prisma Health Richland hospital from his injuries.
According to investigators, the incident occurred on Whisperwood Road in Orangeburg County, near the Calhoun County line.
This incident remains under investigation.
