LCSD: Man charged after discarding body of shooting victim
LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A man is charged with murder, grand larceny, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and circumventing an electronic monitoring device, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
According to LCSD Sheriff Jay Koon, Jesse Lou Gregory, 34, is accused of shooting Nicholas Kenneth Hendrix with a shotgun and discarding his body.
Hendrix’s body was found at the coroner of Old Barnwell Road and White Knoll Way on Nov.12.
Also, Gregory is accused of stealing a car the day before he allegedly shot Hendrix which is connected to the grand larceny charge.
“Gregory told detectives he shot Hendrix while the two of them were driving around in the Leesville area,” said Sheriff Koon.
Detectives say Hendrix’s injuries and evidence collected from the car are inconsistent with Gregory’s account of how things occurred.
“Before the sequence of events unfolded, we’ve confirmed Gregory failed to properly charge a GPS electronic ankle monitoring device he was required to wear as a condition of his bond from a previous charge,” Koon said.
Gregory and the stolen car was found in Aiken County.
He is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
