Newberry County Coroner identifies driver from highway collision

NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Newberry County Coroner has identified the driver of a single-vehicle collision that happened on SC Hwy 34, said officials.

According to the coroner’s office, the collision happened on Nov.27, 2023, at Skating Rink Road.

Coroner Laura Kneece says Marcelino Rojas of Newberry was taken to Prisma Health Richland where he was later pronounced dead on Nov. 29, 2023.

The collision is under investigation by the Newberry County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol.
