Troopers: Driver dead after hitting utility box, tree on Shore Road
LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C.(WOLO)– One person is dead after a collision on Shore Road in Lexington County, said state troopers.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the collision happened on Shore Road, 10 miles North of Gilbert around 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
A blue Nissan was traveling North when it went off the left side of the road, hit a ditch, a utility box, and then a tree.
The driver was taken to Lexington Medical Center and was later pronounced dead.
Also the driver was identified by Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher as Melvin Lin Chavis, 79, of Gilbert.
The collision is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
