Magnetic ball toy recalled for choking hazard

(CNN)– Federal Safety Regulators have an important warning to parents everywhere, be aware of high-powered magnetic balls in toy sets.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled more than 700 units of the colorful metal magnetic balls from XpressGoods.

Consumers should immediately take them from children and contact the company for a refund.

The agency says if swallowed the magnetic balls can attract each other and become lodged in the digestive system.

This can result in perforations, blockage of the intestines, blood poisoning, and even death.

The CPSC estimates there were 24 hundred emergency room visits from 2017 through 2021 due to people swallowing small magnetic balls.

Seven deaths were reported including five in the U.S.
