CDC urging vaccines ahead of holiday season

(CNN)– It’s not too late to protect yourself and your loved ones from respiratory viruses this holiday season.

The CDC says it takes about two weeks for flu, covid-19 and RSV vaccines to provide optimal protection.

That means anyone can still achieve that level of protection in time for Christmas.

According to CDC data, weekly hospitalizations for flu, covid-19 and RSV are on the rise.

Fewer than two in five adults and children have gotten the flu vaccine.

About 16% of adults and 7% of kids have the latest covid vaccine.

Even though it takes two weeks to achieve maximum protection, vaccines offer some protection before then.
