Coroner identifies Lexington man as victim in Fairfield County collision

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C.(WOLO)– The driver of a Ford Transit who was pronounced dead at Prisma Health Richland Memorial after a Monday collision has been identified by the Fairfield County coroner, says the coroner’s office.

According to Fairfield County Coroner Chris Hill, Bryson Burgess, 23, Lexington, SC, was the driver of a vehicle that was traveling on Jenkinsville Road when he went through a stop sign at US-213.

The vehicle Burgess was driving was struck in the driver’s door by a pick-up truck traveling on US-213 towards US-215 in the early morning hours of Dec. 11, 2023, says the coroner’s office.

Burgess and his passenger were taken to Prisma Health Richland Memorial where he was later pronounced deceased due to his injuries.

The collision remains an active investigation by the Fairfield County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol.
