Sumter County coroner releases name of early morning house fire victims
SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Sumter County Coroner’s Office is releasing the name of the individuals who died as a result of an early morning Wednesday house fire, say the coroner’s office.
The house fire happened on Wednesday morning, Dec. 13, near the 5000 block of Alcott Drive in Wedgefield around 3 a.m.
William Murray, 57, John Elswick, 26, and Robert Blackowicz, 23, all of Sumter were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker.
A fourth person was taken to the Augusta Burn Center to receive treatment for injuries he received in the fire.
All three autopsies will take place at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston on Friday.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, The South Carolina State Fire Marshal’s Office, The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and the Sumter County Coroner’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire.
