Electric car part company to build first US facility in Sumter County

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A German company is investing half a billion dollars in Sumter County.

The company e-VAC Magnetics recently announced it will be operating a facility in the Pocotaligo Industrial Park in Sumter.

The company produces magnets that are used in vehicles, military technology and industrial plants.

The facility aims to create 300 new jobs for the area.

Elected officials celebrated the announcement on Wednesday at the Sumter Opera House in downtown Sumter.

E-vac hopes yo begin operations in 2 years by the end of 2025.
