ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Orangeburg County School District has announced its new E-sports lab at the district’s technology center.

District officials say the new E-sports lab is set to become a hub for interactive learning and technological advancement within the district.

Initially serving as an extracurricular activity, the lab will soon extend the current digital arts class taught by Kevin Glennon says the district.

“This lab represents a bridge between gaming and education, offering students a unique platform to explore their passions in a structured, educational setting,” said Glennon.

The lab will is equipped with high-performance computers and gaming consoles designed to nurture digital literacy.

District leaders say the lab’s introduction is a strategic step into making e-sports and related educational opportunities available to all students in the district.
“The skills our students can develop here go beyond just gaming—they’re the very skills that the modern workforce demands. We’re talking about a future in cyber security, software
development, network engineering, artificial intelligence, and more,” says Dr. Shawn Foster, Superintendent of OCSD.
