Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office warns of property tax scam

Kershaw, SC  (WOLO) — The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office is asking people to be on the lookout for a scam they the County Administrator says is circulating in the area. According to a post on the County Facebook page, some people in the area may have received letters in their mailboxes involving property tax notices claiming that they could be the subject of a lien on their property.

According to officials, the letter goes on to ask people to call the number 1866-790-7995.  Once they do the person answering the phone says they are with Kershaw County Tax Office. County officials say this is not how the County does business and verify that this is indeed a scam.
