Fairfield County coroner identifies victim found in home fire

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Fairfield County Coroner’s Office has identified the person found in home fire on Tuesday, said the coroner’s office.

Firefighters with the Fairfield County Fire Service responded to a report of fire with an individual inside on Keyhole Drive in Winnsboro, S.C.

The victim was located and then the coroner’s office was called, said officials.

Fairfield County Coroner Chris Hill has identified the individual as 83-year-old Wardell Jeter from Winnsboro, S.C.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of Jeter’s death, Coroner Hill said.

The incident is being investigated by the Fairfield County Coroner’s Office and SLED.
