Lexington County coroner identifies person killed in Irmo apartment fire

IRMO, S.C. (WOLO)– Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the name of the person who died in a Irmo apartment fire, said the coroner’s office.

The fire happened at the Irmo Village Apartments on Chipwood Court shortly after 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023.

According to Coroner Margaret Fisher, James Ray Wright II, 45, of Irmo, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, January 4 at 11:00 a.m. at MUSC in Charleston.

The fire is under investigation by the Irmo Police Department, the Irmo Fire Department, and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.
