Tameika Isaac Devine wins Senate District 19 race in landslide election
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — Next week, state senators will return to the capitol here in Columbia with a new member serving District 19.
After the passing of Senator John Scott last year, Richland County residents voted for a new senator today, former councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine.
Tuesday, thousands of voters in Richland County had their say. Devine won Senate District 19 with 86 percent of the votes.
The former City of Columbia councilwoman says she is ready to get to work with the legislative session starting next week. Devine also spoke about bills she plans to vote for and against.
While Democrats are in the minority in the South Carolina Senate, Devine says she plans to work with those on both sides of the aisle to get things done for District 19.
