Fairfield Co. coroner identifies individuals dead after separate vehicle collisions

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Fairfield County Coroner Chris Hill has released the names of the people involved in separate vehicle collisions on Saturday, Jan. 6, said the coroner’s office.

According to Coroner Hill, Terence Byrd, 48, of Winnsboro, S.C. was traveling on Newberry Road when he was involved in a 3 vehicle incident on Saturday morning.

Byrd was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead due to his injuries.

NaShuma Knight, 43, of Columbia, S.C. was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-77 when she collided with another vehicle in the late hours on Saturday.

Knight was pronounced dead by staff of Fairfield County Coroner’s Office, said the coroner’s office.

Autopsies for both individuals have been set up.

The Fairfield County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate both incidents.
