COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A man wanted for a New York murder has been arrested in the Midlands, said the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Leon Lott also said the man is responsible for injuring an RCSD deputy during his arrest.

On Saturday, Jan. 6, deputies tried to ID a man they saw walking near the 1800 block of Decker Boulevard in connection to a stolen vehicle.

Deion King provided deputies with false information and then ran away, said RCSD.

Deputies were able to detain him and then he began to assault them, said Richland County deputies.

He ran away again and then was caught by a K9.

King was arrested and charged with assault, ID theft and fraud. He was taken to Alvin S. Glen Detention Center.
