Newberry Leaders Discuss Legacy Of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– There are many events around the Midlands in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his beliefs. Here is a list below.

 

  1. Martin Luther King Jr. Day at the CMA- The Columbia Museum of Art is hosting a special MLK Day program that is free to the public. The event will take place on Monday, Jan.15 at 12 p.m. until 5 p.m.
  2. University of South Carolina of Law- The law school is hosting a “The Trumpet of Conscience: The Role of Lawyers in the Fight for Justice” theme for its second annual Celebration of the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Thursday, Jan.11 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  3. The Ark Church- The church is hosting an MLK Day Community Recognition Ceremony at 3 p.m. at 1230 St. Andrews Road. Doors open at 2 p.m.
  4. University of South Carolina- annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Breakfast and presentation of the Social Justice Awards will be on Jan. 12 at 7: 30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
  5. South Carolina First Steps- The organization is partnering with Edventure Children’s Museum for a kick-off event for First Steps’ MLK Week of Service on Monday, January 15 at 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
