MLK events in the Midlands 2023
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– There are many events around the Midlands in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his beliefs. Here is a list below.
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day at the CMA- The Columbia Museum of Art is hosting a special MLK Day program that is free to the public. The event will take place on Monday, Jan.15 at 12 p.m. until 5 p.m.
- University of South Carolina of Law- The law school is hosting a “The Trumpet of Conscience: The Role of Lawyers in the Fight for Justice” theme for its second annual Celebration of the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Thursday, Jan.11 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- The Ark Church- The church is hosting an MLK Day Community Recognition Ceremony at 3 p.m. at 1230 St. Andrews Road. Doors open at 2 p.m.
- University of South Carolina- annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Breakfast and presentation of the Social Justice Awards will be on Jan. 12 at 7: 30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
- South Carolina First Steps- The organization is partnering with Edventure Children’s Museum for a kick-off event for First Steps’ MLK Week of Service on Monday, January 15 at 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
