Sumter Co.: Two men facing multiple charges after chase
SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Two men are facing multiple charges after a deputy chase in Sumter County, says the sheriff’s office.
According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy noticed a vehicle matching the description of a stolen car.
Once the deputy confirmed that the vehicle was the stolen car, he activated the blue lights on his vehicle and gave verbal commands to the driver and
passenger to place their hands outside the vehicle.
The sheriff’s office says the driver then sped away and the deputy began a pursuit.
During the chase the stolen vehicle ran into a curb behind the St. Anne Parish Center before hitting a fence behind the Garden Circle Apartments.
Both the driver and the passenger got out of the vehicle and ran on foot while the vehicle was still moving.
Both of the men were located by Sumter Police Department officers.
The driver Daeveon Miche Nelson-Peterson was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and his bond was denied.
At the time of the chase Nelson-Peterson was under house arrest.
Nyshaun Mykal Williams was also apprehended but investigators say there was not enough probable cause to arrest him at the time but upon further investigation a warrant
was issued for his arrest on Jan. 9.
