Local Living: A look at things to do in the Midlands

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– In today’s look at Local Living, several places will honor Martin Luther King Jr., this month.
Chappelle Memorial AME Church is hosting their “MLK Day Celebration” on Monday, Jan 15, at 9:30 p.m.
Representative Annie McDaniel will be the speaker.
The Columbia Museum of Art is honoring MLK Day with free admission.
There will be special MLK Day programming starting with line dancing hosted by Franklin Jones on Boyd Plaza at 1 p.m. and a storytelling celebration at 1:30 p.m.
You can bring your best blue jeans and enjoy an evening of classical music on Saturday.
The South Carolina Philharmonic is performing for their “Beethoven and Blue Jeans” concert.
The show begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Koger Center for the Arts.

Free Fridays are back at the Riverbanks Zoo.
Every Friday in January and February residents of Richland and Lexington County can receive free daytime admission.
You just need a proof of residency such as a driver’s license or a property tax statement.
