Sumter Police: Searching for man connected to attempted robbery, shooting

Police say initial information gathered tells them 68-year-old David McCoy was at the Hoyt Heights home and demanded money from Shaw before shots were fired.

SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO)– The Sumter Police Department is searching for a man after officers say he was involved in an attempted armed robbery and shooting at a home on Thursday night.
Sumter Police say officers responded to a shooting at a Hoyt Heights home and found a 63-year-old resident had been shot.
David Lee Shaw was taken to Prisma Health Tuomey for treatment and is currently recovering.
Police say initial information gathered tells them 68-year-old David McCoy was at the Hoyt Heights home and demanded money from Shaw before shots were fired.
McCoy is facing multiple charges in connection with the shooting.
