Benedict College to host MLK celebration
Columbia, SC (WOLO) — One of South Carolina’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities is hosting an event to honor the life and legacy of Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. If you didn’t have the chance to attend any of the events that were held leading up to the federal observance of MLK day you still have a chance.
Benedict College has announced plans to celebrate the civil rights icon with ‘The Time is Now: Act on the Dream’ event taking place Tuesday January 16, 2024. The event presented by Blueprint Strategy, LLC. is an effort to continue building upon the change sparked by Dr. Martin Luther King and other civil rights leaders. The event gives students not only a change to pay homage to those who have come before them, but also understand the importance of pausing to reflect on how far we’ve come, and how much work some say is still needed.
The commemorative program will take place Tuesday at 11am at the Antisdel Chapel located on the Benedict College Campus (104 Bentley Court, Columbia, SC). The speaker for the event will be Blueprint Strategy, LLC. CEO, founder Antwan Seawright who also handles public relations, advertising and is a national political contributor.
