Sheriff: Remains identified as missing woman

Orangeburg Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Orangeburg Co. Sheriff Leroy Ravenell held a news conference Tuesday afternoon to update the investigation into human remains found in the Holly Hill area.

Ravenell says the family of Melissa Aguilar tells the department that the coroner’s office confirmed the remains are hers.

Investigators say her death has been ruled a homicide.

According to deputies, Aguilar was last seen in August when she left her home following an argument with a former boyfriend.
