Coroner: Remains those of woman who disappeared 12 years ago

Richland Co., S.C. (WOLO)–Skeletal remains that were found last week in Elgin have now been identified as a woman who was last seen more than 12 years ago.

Adriana Laster, who was 28 at the time of her disappearance, was last seen in September of 2011.

A week ago, workers using an excavator at a sand mine and landfill operation in Elgin accidentally discovered her partial remains.

The Richland County DNA lab confirmed that the remains were Laster’s.

Laster’s cause of death is still yet to be determined.

The Richland Co. Coroner’s office says her death is being treated as a homicide and Freddie Grant has been charged with her murder.

Grant is currently serving a sentence for the kidnapping and murder of teenager Gabbie Swainson… who disappeared in August of 2012.

Sheriff Lott says Grant may be involved in other disappearances as well and the investigation into him continues.
