Person taken to hospital after Sumter County shooting, say deputies
SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Friday afternoon shooting in Sumter County resulted in one man being taken to a hospital and the suspect being arrested, said the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies stated the Sumter County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting that a person was shot several times around 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 19.
While some deputies administered aid to the victim, others set up a perimeter in the area near Holly Road in the Cherryvale area of Sumter County.
After a brief search, the suspect was caught without incident, said deputies.
The condition of the victim is unknown.
Sheriff Anthony Dennis expressed his concern for the victim.
“These life-altering incidents don’t happen in a vacuum. When illegal guns and drugs are combined there is never a good outcome,” he said.
Daquan Jamel Cure was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office with pending warrants and is being charged with attempted murder.
He will be booked into the detention center to await a bond hearing.
