Police officer terminated after removing political signs, say officers

IRMO, S.C. (WOLO)– An Irmo Police Officer was terminated from the department for removing political signs, said IPD.

According to the Irmo Police Department, Officer Lee Haley is accused of being involved in removing political signs that were recently reported stolen by candidate Gabrielle Penfield.

An IPD’s Internal Affairs investigation determined that Officer Haley was responsible for the removal of the signs.

The Department said the investigation will be turned over to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) in the event the victim wanted to press charges.

“We hold our officers accountable, especially when they go against our core values of integrity, professionalism, and dependability,” stated Chief Dale.
