Chapin, SC (WOLO) — One Chapin High School student is hitting a high note after being chosen to join other high school peers from across the country that will take part in the Honors Performance Series put on by World Strides.

A spokesperson for Lexington Richland School District Five, says the student, Ana Aun sent in an audition back in August of 2023 in hopes of getting the once in a lifetime opportunity. Lo and behold,  that dream is now a reality and Aun is getting ready to head to New York City along with others selected for the chance to hit the iconic stage of the concert hall for a show that will end their trip. The Musicians leave for the Big Apple February 7, and will stay there until the 11th.

Aun says about the upcoming experience,

“This opportunity means the world to me, it has been my dream to pursue music since I was very young,” Aun said. “One of my lifetime goals since I’ve known about Carnegie Hall was to perform there, and I get to live my dream that I never thought I could.”

The Honors Performance Series gives chosen students from around the world a chance to meet fellow musicians, make new connections as they rehearse and finally put on a show under the leadership of master conductors. Students will spend a lot of time getting ready for the final concert, but officials with the District say they will have some time to enjoy a little time checking out some New York City sights while enjoying its popular performing Arts scene.

Chapin High School Choral Director Nicholas Shumate also commented on the upcoming trip saying,

“I am incredibly proud of Ana and her accomplishment of auditioning and being selected for this honor,”….. Performing with this group is a great honor and I know that her family and community are extremely proud of her. She has worked very hard the last couple of years and I am very excited to watch her continued growth and success as she studies at USC next fall.”
