Deputies: Traffic stop leads to drugs, weapons arrest

 

Lexington Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Lexington Co. Deputies say a traffic stop lead to the discovery of a cache of drugs and firearms.

Investigators say narcotics agents stopped David Matthews, 51, on I-26 near Charleston Hwy.

According to an LCSD spokesperson, deputies found a handgun in Matthews’ car.

Officials say he has a prior conviction which prohibits him from possessing a firearm.

Deputies say a subsequent search of his home yielded large amounts of meth, crack, fentanyl, and marijuana along with $25,000 in cash as well as six guns, one of which was stolen.
