Consumers to spend $26B on Valentine’s Day

 

(CNN)– Consumers plan to spend nearly $26 billion on Valentine’s Day this year which is about the same as last year, according to the National Retail Federation.

The figure breaks down to an average of nearly $186 a person.

And it’s nearly $8 more than over the past five years.

Of the 26 billion, consumers are planning to spend a new high of more than 14 billion on spouses or significant others.

That’s a record of more than $101 a person.

Consumers are also projected to set spending records on jewelry, flowers, clothing and an evening out this year.
