Medicare now negotiating expensive drug prices

(CNN)– Medicare has started its first-ever negotiations with drugmakers over the cost of 10 expensive medications.

Drug companies have argued the negotiations could chill their research and development, leading to fewer new medications coming to the market.

The negotiations comes as Senator Bernie Sanders is once again taking the pharmaceutical industry to task.

He issued a report on Tuesday highlighting the cost of three blockbuster drugs that are far pricier in the U.S. than in other countries.
