SLED: Lexington County man charged after threatening sheriff
LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Lexington County man has been charged after threatening Lexington County sheriff Jay Koon, says SLED.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division says Erik Joseph McBride is charged with the manufacture, possession, use, aid or counsel of a bomb/hoax device or replica, threatening the life or family of a public official, and unlawful communication.
McBride is accused of sending an email from his personal email account to send a threat to Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon.
He was booked at the Lexington County Detention Center and then taken to the Newberry County Detention Center.
His case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
