Tuskegee Airmen receive memorial in the Midlands
SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO)– The Tuskegee Airmen now have a permanent memorial in the Midlands.
Friday morning, officials unveiled a full-scale model of the P-51 Mustang Red-tail just like the airmen flew in WW2.
The Tuskegee Airmen were an all volunteer squadron of African-American fighter pilots who have seen been lauded for their valor in battle.
Four Sumter residents were among the famous airmen.
If you would like to see it yourself the plane is on display at Veteran Park on Broad Street in Sumter.
