Inmate reportedly assaulted by multiple people at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center

Richland Co., SC (WOLO) — The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an assault authorities say took place early Monday morning. According to deputies they were called to respond to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center shortly after 12 midnight Monday morning. The Sheriff’s Department says once they arrived they were asked to speak with a male inmate who claimed he was physically assaulted by “multiple subjects”.

Deputies say that man was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries. In the meantime,  authorities say this incident remains under investigation. We will bring you the very latest developments as more details become available.
