Lexington Medical Center hosts stress free break with therapy dogs

LEXINGTON, S.C. (WOLO)– You could say there was a bit of puppy love going around on Wednesday.

It turns out that love could actually affect your heart in more ways than one.

Lexington Medical Center hosted a “Therapy dog stress break” for the community and staff to come by and pet hospital therapy dogs.

According to the American Heart Association, having a dog around may help reduce a person’s risk for cardiovascular disease.

The risk of depression and high blood pressure also decreases by having a pet.

All of the dogs are certified therapy dogs that regularly visit patient across the hospital.
