Family, friends split lottery winnings from November ticket

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A group of family and friends who played the Mega Millions together back in November are dividing a $1 million prize six ways, said lottery officials.

According to SC Lottery officials, several weeks passed by before anyone in the group checked the winning ticket for the Friday, November 17, 2023 drawing.

“I invited everyone to lunch and surprised them with the news,” said the person in the group who checked the ticket.

Their ticket matched the first five numbers drawn, but missed the Megaball number. The six winners waited until everyone was available to go cash in the winning ticket.
