Starbucks opens first cafe designed for disabled guests
(CNN)– Starbucks has opened its first cafe designed to give customers with disabilities more store accessibility.
The cafe located in D.C. includes softer lighting to minimize glares, shadow patterns and backlighting to help people read menu items or in-store info.
There will be materials that minimize background noise or echoes which could disrupt people using hearing aids.
Also, the location is going to minimize clutter to make it easier for customers in wheelchairs or motorized scooters to get around.
Lower countertops with wheelchair access for food pick-up will also be put in place.
All renovated and new cafes will implement the new design features.
